IPTV TAKES CENTER STAGE AT NAB SHOW
-- New Pavilion, presented in conjunction with 'Telephony' and 'Broadcast Engineering' Magazine, Conference Series and Super Session to Debut at the 2008 NAB Show --
WASHINGTON, DC - The NAB Show will expand its IPTV offerings with a new conference series and super session that will provide telecommunications and wireless professionals with insight into converging technologies, state-of-the-art concepts and equipment for IPTV and other next generation video business. Telephony and Broadcast Engineering Magazine, in conjunction with NAB, will also feature an IPTV Pavilion showcasing the latest products and services centered on content distribution and delivery. The events will take place April 14-17 at the Las Vegas Convention Center in Las Vegas.
"IPTV was the number one searched term and one of the most popular segments during last year's NAB Show and we've seen a huge demand for ongoing education and information," said Chris Brown, executive vice president of conventions and business operations at NAB. "In expanding our offerings for IPTV we are not only addressing this demand but looking to provide unique insight to telecom providers as they grapple with the issues and opportunities surrounding the deployment of next generation video networks."
IPTV Pavilion
The IPTV Pavilion will be in the "Content Central" section located in the Central Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center. New to the NAB Show, the IPTV Pavilion and Content Central will provide a platform for exhibitors such as Maverick Systems, BT, ConnecTV Media International, DIGISOFT.TV, Itiva Networks, MDS America, NXP Semiconductors, Sentivision, Tektronix, UBStream, Ambric, Xeno and others to showcase their latest products and services centered on content distribution and delivery. The IPTV Pavilion will focus on the distribution and delivery of IPTV services, uniting content and new technology to provide innovative solutions to telecom organizations.
"IPTV is a topic of critical and growing importance to our brands, our readers and advertisers for both Telephony and Broadcast Engineering," said Jonathan Chalon, vice president of Penton Media's Entertainment Technology Group. "We're very pleased to have the opportunity to partner with the NAB Show on the IPTV Pavilion -- and to leverage Penton Media's unique assets, audience and industry expertise as the Pavilion's Official Media Partner."
Conference Series - "Telecom2008: Building Your IPTV Business"
Titled "Telecom2008: Building Your IPTV Business," the new conference series will explore the strategies and technology necessary for companies to build IPTV businesses. Co-produced by Team Lightbulb, an event planning and management organization, the conference will provide information about creating and acquiring content, present the latest developments in the telecom industry, and offer guided tours of IPTV technology found on the NAB Show exhibit floor. Also participating in the conference is "Telecom Crash Course" author Steven Shepard, who will examine the changes that are shaping the telecom industry and discuss ways to maintain future networks.
Super Session - "IPTV Right Now - Where We Are and What We Have Learned"
The "IPTV Right Now - Where We Are and What We Have Learned" super session, held Tuesday, April 15, will look at previous IPTV technology experiences to predict trends in connected TV over the next 12 months. Enrique Rodriquez, corporate vice president of Microsoft TV, will keynote the session, which will also include a panel discussion featuring Brian Levy, Hewlett-Packard's vice president and chief technology officer of communications, media and entertainment; BT Vision Strategy and Business Development Director Neville Manuel; and Dan York, executive vice president of programming at AT&T. Boyd Peterson, senior vice president of consumer research at Yankee Group, will moderate the session.
