UPDATED: October 22, 2008
A major construction project is scheduled to begin at the Las Vegas Convention Center that will affect shows for the next several years. Recently the Las Vegas Convention Center announced significant changes in the upcoming building enhancement project, which will substantially reduce the impact for the upcoming NAB Show. According to the newly announced construction plan we anticipate the following in 2009:
- The walkway from Central Hall to South Hall (Door 42) will be open for the show.
- Outdoor exhibits will be located in the Orange Lot (same as 2008). While we anticipate minimal impact in the Orange Lot, there will be some construction work occurring nearby. The LVCC will be adding a new restroom area and a data command center along the south wall of the Central Hall. This will also require construction access around the exhibit area in the Orange Lot.
- The Silver Lot will be available for exhibitor paid parking.
- Main entrances and lobbies will be largely unaffected. The taxi drop-off location for the North Hall may be relocated to the south of its present location to allow for construction under the porte-cohere.
- We will still be able to use the Central or South saw tooth location for shuttle buses.
- There should be no construction impact on the South Hall lobby.
The Las Vegas Convention Center's enhancement program will last for several years and the most significant impact will occur during the 2010 and 2011 NAB Shows. The overall project includes construction of an interior lobby which will connect the North Hall to the South Halls. This new lobby will be constructed over the existing grand central patio and will include multiple new retail and food locations.
As with any construction project, there may be changes in schedule or scope of construction. We will post revised information as we receive it on the show Web site, the NAB Exhibitor Blog and through the NAB Exhibits Manager.
