The Society of Camera Operators Present: Women Camera Operators
Any elite Camera operator needs to have a command of the multitude of capture technology and techniques that can be found on any production from reality to features. Unfortunately, these apparatuses are not always available for inexperienced operators to learn and seasoned operators to practice. That’s exactly what this intensive workshop is designed to do. Operators of varying skill levels and experience will receive the opportunity to go hands-on with cranes, dollies, handheld cameras, gear heads, and more. In addition, during the workshop, the instructors will be including camera department communication skills. These skills will help operators communicate with the dolly grip and AC.
With a focus on female operators, each attendee will have one-on-one time with seasoned instructors that carry notable credits and a wealth of knowledge. Participants with limited exposure will receive hands-on experience and instruction in proper set up and technique, while those with more experience will have access to instructors knowledge of tips, tricks, and advanced techniques.
This candid and collaborative workshop is welcome to all will be presented with an inclusive and supportive context.

Seasoned producers know 2nd Camera Assistants are critical to an efficient and smooth-running camera team. But how 2nd Assistants go about achieving this is radically different between genres, from production to production and across camera assignments. Join Local 600 2nd Assistants as they unpack how they adapt to different production types and conditions as well as how to become indispensable to their 1st Assistants and Directors of Photography.

Kodak presents a practical motion picture film workshop to equip creators with the knowledge they need to shoot on this unmatched medium. Addressing the basics of film capture, the workshop will cover necessary steps to shoot on Super8mm and 16mm film, from selecting and ordering film stock to loading and exposing. The workshop will also offer basic information about film processing and post-production. Instructed by seasoned professionals, attendees will receive hands-on learning with Super8 and Arriflex 416 cameras, including 16mm magazine loading, and a variety of useful informational materials.

CineCentral Craft Clinic – Blackmagic Design Presents: Shooting with the Blackmagic URSA Cine 17K 65 in Iceland with Florent Piovesan – Planning, Technology and Techniques
Of Two Lands’ founder, French filmmaker Florent Piovesan will discuss his recent shooting in Iceland, where he shot with the Blackmagic URSA Cine 17K 65. He will discuss what he used on the shoot, the challenges of shooting there and how the camera performed. He will talk about the advantages of shooting 2:2:1 open gate, the benefits of the new sensor and what shooting large format means and how filmmakers should prepare for it.

The Society of Camera Operators Present: Working with Dollies
Participants will gain knowledge and experience using dollies and how to use this valuable tool to further storytelling.
Knowing which dolly is best per situation and space limitations, use of track and no track. Each participant will learn valuable techniques and exercises to gain proficiency. Examples of use, speed, and supporting tools will be included.

Behind the Scenes – Getting That Shot!
How did they get that shot? This lecture style workshop will screen notable shots and scenes and uncover how it was done. The technology used and ways to accomplish to further the storytelling experience.
Instructors will present footage, scripts and camera plots to deepen the participants’ understanding of the planning, budget and ways to accomplish on one’s own project.

The Society of Camera Operators Present: Designing and Executing THE Action Shot
Real-world demonstrations and immersive training exercises using the latest in cinematic content capture technology will be presented. Each participant will be given maximum exposure to the use of cranes, stabilized remote heads, and dollies. Action scenes will be designed, blocked and executed using these cinematic tools.
Participants will gain knowledge of the benefits and experiment on how and when to use these tools for storytelling and audience engagement. Instructors are respected camera operators, 1st camera assistants and grips, all with notable credits and broad experience.

Matt DeJohn, VFX and Editorial Workflow Manager for Blackmagic Design’s Workflow team, will discuss production through post for workflows for immersive filming. Building off his experience with the new Blackmagic URSA Cine Immersive camera, DeJohn will walk through how to take advantage of shooting 8160 x 7200 resolution per eye with pixel level synchronization at 16 stops of dynamic range. He will also talk through the immersive post production process and how to show and work with immersive footage on and off set.

This workshop will teach the creative process of crafting cinematic images from words in a script to on set. Demonstration and discussions will cover:
- The steps in breaking down the script

- Relationships between the director, director of photography and crew in this process
A scene from a script will be presented with participants learning how the scene is blocked and shot. This workshop is designed for hands on learning using cinematic tools.
