This page is to familiarize yourself with the rules of the 2020 NAB Show Product of the Year Awards competition, hosted and administered by the National Association of Broadcasters (“NAB”), prior to submitting your entry. Your submission of an entry into this competition constitutes your acceptance of these official rules (“Official Rules”). This competition is subject to applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations and is void where prohibited.
The 2020 NAB Show Product of the Year Awards will recognize the most significant and promising new products and technologies. If you are a 2020 NAB Show exhibitor that has introduced a new product after last year’s 2019 NAB Show in Las Vegas that was not displayed at either the 2019 NAB Show in Las Vegas or the 2019 NAB Show in New York, you’re eligible to enter the 2020 NAB Show Product of the Year Awards subject to the terms of these Official Rules below. The 2020 NAB Show Product of the Year Awards is an independently judged awards program recognizing product innovation, and it is optional for NAB exhibitors to participate.
Timeline
The 2020 NAB Show Product of the Year Awards will open at 11:00 a.m. EST on August 25, 2020 and will end September 23, 2020 Extended September 30, 2020 at 5:00 p.m. EST (the “Entry Deadline”). All entries must be received by the Entry Deadline.
Fees
The online entry fee per product is $255. Entrants may nominate more than one product in one or multiple categories, but each product must have its own paid entry form. No refunds of entry fees will be issued. Winners will be recognized in collaboration with NAB Show New York digital experience Tuesday, October 20, 2020 at NABshow.com/ny2020.
Rules
1. To be eligible for an award, nominated products and technologies must be from an exhibiting company contracted to participate in the 2020 NAB Show Las Vegas or the 2020 NAB Show New York and be available for delivery in calendar year 2020.
2. All questions on the entry form must be answered fully to help judges better understand the product and how it is innovative. Failure to fill in required fields or to submit incorrect information may result in disqualification.
3. Entrants may only submit one (1) single product per entry. Entrants may submit a separate entry form for as many different products as they like, in as many categories as they choose. Each entry must cover one (1) product in one (1) category.
4. Entries may not contain advertisements, commercial endorsements, or any material that is indecent, obscene, hateful, discriminatory, defamatory, slanderous, libelous, unlawful or otherwise inappropriate as determined by NAB in its absolute discretion. NAB, in its sole discretion, shall determine eligibility of any entrant, and may disqualify any entrant at any time for any reason. In the event of a conflict or potential conflict between entries, NAB, in its sole discretion, may choose to reject or disqualify one or more entries.
5. All decisions made by the judging panel are final.
6. Professional-quality, high-resolution photography (under 5MB please) must be submitted with each completed entry form. At least two-color images of each product must be submitted, and five are permitted. Multiple views (other angles) and technical information/specification sheets are encouraged. You can upload .JPG .PNG .GIF files only. Each photo must be 300 DPI in resolution, and each image must be under 5 MB. By submitting photography, you are granting NAB the right to publish it free of charge. Any copyright owner or photographer’s fees/usage rights are the responsibility of the submitter.
7. By submitting photography and/or any other content with your entry, you (a) represent and warrant that you own the exclusive rights and/or have obtained all necessary third-party consents to submit such images and/or other content for consideration, and that such images and/or other content do not infringe any third-party rights or otherwise violate applicable law, (b) grant NAB and its designees, licensees or affiliates a non-exclusive, irrevocable, royalty free, fully paid, worldwide, sublicensable license to use, distribute, display, reproduce, publish, republish and create derivative works of the entry in any media now or hereafter known, including but not limited to, print or digital publication in NAB publications or websites and (c) agree to indemnify, defend and hold harmless NAB and its partners, affiliates, subsidiaries, advertising agencies, agents and their employees, officers, directors, and representatives from any and all third-party claims arising from the entry and use of any such images and/or other content submitted in connection with the competition.
8. By submitting an entry, you agree and consent to the use of your organization’s trade name and your name, image, voice, appearance, persona and/or likeness by NAB on its website properties or through other media in connection with the 2020 NAB Show New York digital experience and any other promotional activity relating to the 2020 NAB Show Product of the Year Awards, as may be reasonably requested by NAB. Your entry may also be used for press and media purposes, including events and activities related to the 2020 NAB Show Product of the Year Awards.
9. Employees of NAB, and each of their contractors, affiliates, subsidiaries and agents and their immediate family members (spouse, parent, child, sibling and their respective spouses, regardless of where they live) or persons living in the same households of such individuals, whether or not related, are not eligible to enter. Entrants must be at least 18 years of age as of the date of entry.
10. Participation is voluntary. By participating, entrants release and agree to indemnify, defend and hold harmless NAB, its subsidiaries, affiliates, advertising and promotion agencies and all of their respective directors, officers, employees, representatives and agents from any and all claims and liability for any injury, loss or damage of any kind to persons (including, without limitation, death) or property, arising directly or indirectly, in whole or in part, from or in connection with your acceptance, possession, use or misuse of any prize, participation in this competition, or any other competition-related activity. NAB is not responsible for lost, late, stolen, incomplete, illegible, ineligible, inaccurate, undelivered, delayed, or misdirected entries. NOTWITHSTANDING THE FOREGOING, IN THE EVENT THAT THE PRECEDING RELEASE IS DETERMINED BY A COURT OF COMPETENT JURISDICTION TO BE INVALID OR VOID FOR ANY REASON, THE ENTRANT AGREES THAT, BY ENTERING THE COMPETITION, (I) ANY CLAIMS, JUDGMENTS AND AWARDS SHALL BE LIMITED TO ACTUAL OUT-OF-POCKET COSTS INCURRED, BUT IN NO EVENT ATTORNEYS’ FEES; AND (II) UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES WILL ANY ENTRANT BE PERMITTED TO OBTAIN ANY AWARD FOR, AND ENTRANT HEREBY WAIVES ALL RIGHTS TO CLAIM, ANY OTHER DAMAGES, INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, PUNITIVE, INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES.
11. By entering this competition, you represent and warrant that you are able to comply with these Official Rules and have the authority to bind your organization to the representations, warranties, and obligations herein. Without limiting the foregoing, you further represent and warrant that you have complied with any requirements of your employer, if any, to allow your participation in this competition, including but not limited to making your submission and accepting any recognition or award you may receive.
Judging Information and Criteria
Entries will be judged after the Entry Deadline by a panel of industry professionals, who will base their decisions on the following criteria with equal weight given to each: (a) innovation, (b) function, and (c) technical advancements. Judges reserve the right to reassign products to other categories if necessary. Decisions by the judges are final.
Winners Announcement
Winners will be announced for up to twenty (20) separate product categories. There may be more than one (1) winner per product category. In addition, judges will select three (3) “best overall” winners in consideration of eligible entries across all product categories. The winners will be recognized during the NAB Show New York digital experience in October 2020 and in a press release post-event, and also featured on the 2020 NAB Show New York website. There are no monetary prizes. Awards will be of nominal value.
Governing Law
By entering, entrants agree that all issues and questions concerning the construction, validity, interpretation and enforceability of these Official Rules, or the rights and obligations of entrants and Sponsor in connection with the competition, shall be governed by, and construed in accordance with, the substantive laws of the District of Columbia without regard to its conflicts of law provisions. All entrants hereby consent to the jurisdiction and venue of the Courts of the District of Columbia.
Right to Cancel or Modify
If for any reason the 2020 NAB Show Product of the Year Awards is not capable of running as planned, including but not limited to, infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failures, or any other causes which corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity, or proper conduct of the 2020 NAB Show Product of the Year Awards, NAB reserves the right at its sole discretion to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the 2020 NAB Show Product of the Year Awards.
Contest Sponsor
The sponsor of the 2020 NAB Show Product of the Year Awards is the National Association of Broadcasters, 1 M Street Southeast, Washington, DC 20003 (“Sponsor”).
