Jeff Moriarty

Chief Product Officer for Digital Products at Nexstar Media Group

Jeff Moriarty, chief product officer for Digital Products at Nexstar Media Group, joined Nexstar in 2021 and oversees digital technologies and product development across the company. He has been at the intersection of technology and news his entire career, with experience leading digital products at media companies including The New York Times Company, Gannett and major newspaper groups across the United Kingdom.  

Moriarty was formerly senior vice president of Consumer Products at Gannett, a role he assumed following the 2020 merger of GateHouse Media and Gannett. Prior to Gannett, Moriarty was based in London, where he led digital product development for Johnston Press/JPIMedia, a network of 150 local and national newspapers across the U.K. This portfolio included historic publications such as The Scotsman, The Yorkshire Post, The Belfast News and the national newspaper The i. Under his leadership, he launched the digital platform for The i at inews.co.uk, which has become one of England’s leading news brands. 

Before relocating to the U.K., Moriarty was responsible for the digital strategy, design and development of products at The Boston Globe, overseeing Boston.com and BostonGlobe.com. In 2012, he also took on the role of general manager of Boston.com, overseeing operations for the most-visited website in the Boston market. Notably, BostonGlobe.com gained recognition for its pioneering use of responsive web design and was part of The Boston Globe’s Pulitzer Prize-winning coverage of the Boston Marathon bombings. 

Moriarty held various leadership positions within The New York Times Company earlier in his career. He managed digital products across the organization, including leading the product management group at About.com, where he was responsible for user experience and advertising products. He also served as vice president for New Media in The New York Times Regional Media Group, overseeing digital strategy for 14 newspapers. Additionally, he held leadership roles as vice president of Product and Technology at Boston.com, director of Classifieds Operations at NYTimes.com, and vice president and general manager of GolfDigest.com. 

Beyond his corporate leadership, Moriarty serves on the board of The Local, a Stockholm-based network of news sites operating in nine European countries. 

He holds a degree in journalism from the University of Florida and currently resides in Los Angeles with his wife and two children.
