SESSION SPEAKER

Michael Bravin

Founder at The Digital Picture Company

Michael Bravin began his career as a freelance production assistant for NBC Sports, working across Major League Baseball, the NBA, College Basketball, and the NFL. Initially pursuing a path toward becoming a producer or director in broadcast sports, he quickly developed a deep interest in the technical aspects of production.

Fascinated by cameras, lenses, and post-production workflows, he shifted his focus to mastering and educating others on the technical tools that support creative storytelling.

Throughout his career, Michael has played a pivotal role in the transition from analog to digital production and post-production technologies. At Abekas Video Systems, he was at the forefront of this shift, helping to advance digital workflows. His tenure at Band Pro saw him working closely with industry-leading brands such as Sony, Zeiss, and Leica, pioneering the adoption of HD cameras in motion picture and television production—an industry that, at the time, was still largely reliant on film.

In 2010, Michael was recruited by senior management at ARRI in Munich to join the team responsible for launching the ALEXA, their first fully commercial digital motion picture camera, which revolutionized the industry. He later continued his work in digital imaging technology with Sim and Canon.

Today, Michael is the founder of The Digital Picture Company, a specialized technical market and consulting firm dedicated to advancing technology, imaging solutions, and production workflows. Through his company, he collaborates with leading filmmakers, technology manufacturers, and creatives to drive innovation in cutting edge digital production and immersive technologies.

With decades of experience bridging creative and technical disciplines, Michael remains a key figure in the evolution of digital production technology.
