Mike Sill, the former stage operator for Epic Games R&D Lab and now Technical Director for Orbital Studios, is a 16 year veteran of the film, television, and gaming industries with a specialty in real-time technical art and virtual productions. A native of Rocky River, OH turned LA transplant, he’s also a former teacher of Unity3D and a 21 year user of Unreal Engine. With that focus on physics based engines and software, Mike has been lucky enough to have various roles at storied companies like Schell Games, Halon Entertainment, Epic Games, and Orbital Studios. Having helped to deliver over 100 projects and productions, Mike has been at the forefront of many evolutionary progressions that have shaped how the media and entertainment industries approach production. Whether it was leading the early days of real-time previsualisation with the art house that started it all, leading one of the first and successful virtual art departments in Call of The Wild or The Mandalorian Season 1, or educating over 200 companies across the globe on ICVFX and the features of Unreal Engine, Mike revels in the challenges that require bridging the languages of Hollywood with the cutting edge technical features of digital creation software.
