Stephen Espinoza

Stephen Espinoza joined Showtime Networks Inc., in November 2011 as head of SHOWTIME Sports®. He is responsible for developing and executing the overall strategy for the department, including acquiring all sports and event programming for SHOWTIME® and SHOWTIME PPV®, the network’s pay per view production and distribution division. The network’s current Sports Emmy Award winning original programming lineup includes SHOWTIME CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING, INSIDE THE NFL, 60 MINUTES SPORTS, and the acclaimed sports documentary series ALL ACCESS. 

In his brief tenure at the network, Espinoza has secured the rights to many of the biggest and most significant boxing matches in the sport, including negotiating an exclusive deal with the No. 1 pound-for-pound boxer in the world, global star Floyd Mayweather. In September 2013, Espinoza oversaw the execution of “Mayweather vs. Canelo” on SHOWTIME PPV, which set a new record as the highest-grossest pay-per-view event in television history. Approximately 18 months later, Espinoza was instrumental in bringing the long-awaited Mayweather vs. Pacquiao bout to fruition, which set a new record with over 4.5 million pay-per-view buys and more than $450 million in domestic pay-per-view revenue.

Stephen Mirrione Ace Backstage Conversation

Stephen Mirrione, ACE, began his career in the nineties editing the movies Swingers and Go for director Doug Liman. He then went into a long collaboration with Steven Soderbergh cutting “Ocean’s Eleven”, “Ocean’s Twelve” and “Ocean’s Thirteen”, as well as “The Informant”, “Contagion” and “Traffic”, for which Mirrione won an Academy Award®.

In 2007, Mirrione received his second Academy Award® nomination for his work on Alejandro G. Iñárritu’s drama Babel, which garnered Mirrione an Eddie Award and the ‘Vulcain Artist-Technical Grand Prize’ at the 2006 Cannes Film Festival. Other films edited for Iñárritu include Biutiful and 21 Grams. 

Another notable collaboration was in 2005 with George Clooney on the Academy Award® nominated drama Good Night, And Good Luck, earning Mirrione both BAFTA and Eddie Award nominations. He has edited all of Clooney’s directorial efforts, “Confessions Of A Dangerous Mind”, “Leatherheads”, “The Ides Of March”, and “The Monuments Men”.

Other films edited by Mirrione include August: “Osage County” and “The Hunger Games”.

Ted Schilowitz Backstage Conversation

Ted was founding member, first employee, and integral part of the product development team at RED Digital Cinema, that has made a significant impact on the Motion Picture Industry, with many of the worlds biggest movies now being shot with these ultra high resolution digital movie cameras. 

Ted currently spends his time in 2 blended worlds; a major Hollywood movie studio and a major technology company in the Digital Cinema projection world. 

He has a studio deal at 20th Century Fox as their Futurist, working directly with senior leadership at the studio on the constantly evolving art and science of advanced motion picture creation. He advises and creates strategy on future technology and vision of cinema for the next generation of movie entertainment, exploring the emerging entertainment fields of Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality and Immersive Cinema for the movie studio. 

He has a unique role as Chief Creative officer at Barco, the worlds marketshare leader in Digital Cinema projection, spearheading a project that is focused on the future of the cinema experience. Initial successes with the Barco Escape Cinema project with some big Hollywood titles and an ever expanding footprint of these special Cinemas worldwide are showing that audience are highly interested in new, modern highly immersive movie going options. 

Ted is one of the founders and creators of the G-Tech product line of advanced hard drive storage products, that are implemented worldwide for professional Television and Multimedia content creation, and are the most recognized brand in the space, a staple of the cinema, episodic television, sports and news production industries. 

Before being part of the founding teams at RED Digital Cinema and G-Tech, Ted was on the team that developed and launched the Macintosh products desktop video division of AJA Video Systems, that created the groundbreaking Kona Cards and IO boxes in tandem with Apple. These products are used on a massive scale worldwide for video production and post production at the highest levels, including some of the worlds biggest movies, TV shows and sporting events. 

Ted has presented on the future of technology and strategy for the media and entertainment industry in many regions of the USA, Europe, China, India, the Middle East, and the Far East. He has consulted worldwide on the technical advances of ultra high resolution digital cinematography and future of advanced next gen. visual experiences for the movie, TV, interactive and gaming industries. 

Schilowitz has been featured in Wired, Variety, NY Times, Wall Street Journal, The Hollywood Reporter, NBC, Studio Daily, Videography, Film and Video, DV magazine, TV Technology, HD Video Pro Magazine, Digital Television Magazine, Engadget, Gizmodo, Millimeter, American Cinematographer, MacWorld, Post magazine, Popular Science, LA Times and countless other trade publications and mainstream press, discussing technology advancements in his areas of passion and exploration.

William Fisher Backstage Conversation

William Fisher is Co-Founder and CEO of YuVue, a digital audience engagement platform for broadcasters, brands and publishers.  He has served as a senior executive, and provided advisory services, in media, technology and financial services worldwide.  

Fisher was part of the management team that launched STAR TV, Asiaʼs dominant satellite TV programmer (acquired by News Corporation).  He has also served as Senior Vice-President of HBO International and as CEO of a one of the leading factual TV production companies in the US.  

He has a B.A. from Yale University, an M.F.A. from Columbia University, and is a former Fulbright Scholar.  His commentary on the media industry has appeared in three languages, including in The Nation, The New Statesman, and The Wall Street Journal.

Zane Vella Backstage Conversations

Zane is an inventor and software executive with deep experience in the movie and TV business. He is founder and CEO of Watchwith, a native video advertising platform, where he works closely with innovative advertisers and networks on the future of TV. He leads a world-class team of design, engineering and ad tech experts specialized in mobile and OTT video. Prior to Watchwith, Zane was CEO of MX (acquired by MLB Advanced Media), a co-founder of the early streaming music site Beta Lounge and creator of CitySpace, an award-winning VR project. Austin Powers

Austin Powers is the President of Olympusat Telecom. He began his career in the 80′s selling telecommunications services for global giant, Cable & Wireless. Austin’s success at C&W selling national and global accounts resulted in his recruitment by MCI-Verizon where he spent over 10 years in sales management. He also managed sales teams for Global Crossing and Primus. His record of building and developing sales teams to consistently grow revenues for clients such as Wal-Mart, IBM, Siemens, Citigroup, Coca Cola, Office Depot, Jabil Circuit, Tyco Int’l, and many others has earned him numerous prestigious awards. During his tenure at Primus Telecommunications, Austin developed and managed one of the largest indirect channel sales partner programs in North America with over 1200 agents and over $300 million in annualized revenues. Austin also focuses on new business development opportunities for Olympusat Holdings and is leading Olympusat Telecom to be the comprehensive communications carrier of the 21st century.

Jas Shelton

Jas Shelton is a cinematographer who shoots movies and television advertisements. Earlier this year, he served as the cinematographer on an as-yet-untitled comedy starring Will Ferrell and Amy Poehler, slated for release in 2017. He also recently lensed the 2015 Sundance hit “The Stanford Prison Experiment,” which was released last summer, and completed work on the HBO series “Togetherness.” 

His other feature film credits include 2011 Toronto Film Festival favorite “Jeff Who Lives at Home,” directed by the Duplass brothers and starring Jason Siegal, Ed Helms, and Susan Sarandon; and the Sundance 2010 hit “Cyrus,” produced by Tony and Ridley Scott and starring John C. Reilly, Marisa Tomei, and Jonah Hill. Shelton’s feature work also includes “C.O.G.,” “Rest Stop: Don’t Look Back,” “Walking Tall,” “The Garage” and “Plastic Utopia,” as well as second unit work on Peter Berg’s “Friday Night Lights,” the Coen brothers’ “The Ladykillers,” and Terry Zwigoff’s “Bad Santa.” 

Originally from Austin, Texas, Shelton began his professional career there, shooting independent films, music videos and television commercials. He studied music, photography, and filmmaking at the University of Texas and went on to receive a scholarship from the Maine Photographic Institute. Shelton’s dual role as director and DP on the short film “Beyond Babylon” earned him a Student Academy Award nomination for Best Short.
