What are the biggest trends impacting the community/industry right now?
With my content creator hat on, I’m seeing an exponential increase in AI-enabled tools to help us create storyboards, repair bad audio, find archived b-roll, and speed up post-production with text-based editing, to name a few. And on the delivery side, we’re seeing more customized content opportunities and localization through features like AI-enabled translations.
What challenges does the community need to overcome, because of these trends?
No matter what part of the content workflow you are doing hands-on or managing, you are drinking from the firehose to understand how AI is transforming what’s possible. But we also are facing a major challenge bringing new talent along in certain technical jobs, because those assistant roles where you could learn on the job are disappearing.
What’s one thing you wish more media pros knew about?
I hope more women in media/entertainment learn about the #GALSNGEAR Tequity Hub where we are focused on monthly Q&A’s and technical upskilling to ensure equity in career advancement. And of course, our #GALSNGEAR CONNECT Women’s Leadership Summit is a premiere event for leveling up leadership skills and powering up your networks.
What are the top 3 things that attendees should go hunt down on the show floor to expand what they just learned in your sessions?
I’ll be checking out turn-key virtual production tools like new VP production software from Vū and complete virtual camera setups at the B&H booth. ADOBE is bringing out several new tools inside Premiere Pro that are amazing. I also want to know more about the data visualization plug-in Digital Storyteller from Digital Anarchy, which transforms large data sets into animations – so cool! The latest cameras and post tools from my friends at Blackmagic Design are always top of my list. And I’m excited to see Chyron LIVE in action with our #GALSNGEAR student-mentor teams designing and delivering in-the-cloud live content at the show. What a powerful, hands-on experience!
