What are the biggest trends impacting the community/industry right now?

The biggest trend is AI evolution in production and workflows. AI is reshaping content creation and enhancing efficiency across the industry. From automated metadata tagging to the integration of AI into production gears, AI is a game-changer.

Another big trend is the decentralization of workflows. Traditional centralized workflows are giving way to decentralized models. Cloud-based collaboration tools, remote editing, and distributed production teams are becoming the norm.

What challenges does the community need to overcome, because of these trends?

Skill gap and balancing creativity. As AI evolves, media pros need continuous training to stay updated. While automation and AI enhance efficiency, maintaining artistic integrity also remains a challenge.
The lack of suitable tools that facilitate seamless remote collaboration. When teams are spread across different locations, there’s a need to invest in platforms that enable real-time collaboration, secure data sharing, and effective task management to overcome this.

What’s one thing you wish more media pros knew about?

The Power of Networks. NDI (Network Device Interface), other complimentary streaming protocols, local and global. It enables seamless video production, real-time collaboration, and flexible workflows. Media pros should explore its potential. It’s a new skill, and for the uninitiated it can either be daunting or end in disaster – take the time to learn about networks… people!
